This half term we have been answering the question, ‘Do all rivers run to the sea?’ To celebrate the end of our ASUPERHERO of our topic, we explored one of the local waterways, Oulton Dyke. Children engaged in a range of aspirational experiences, allowing them to explore their senses and new exciting opportunities. The children were challenged to build a raft, read maps, find trig points and sail. The children have not stopped talking about this exciting and engaging experience all week.Lots of the children overcame their worries and pushed themselves. Whether it was reading a map, to learning a knot or even jumping into the water. They did it all with a smile and made our school really proud. This trip also allowed the children to meet two of our 11 before 11 experiences, messing around on the water and hiking heroes. These are 11 commitments we make as a school for all children to experience before they leave us at the end of Year 6. ... See MoreSee Less

Year 4 had an amazing day being tourists on our beautiful local beach. We also completed our 11b411 challenge to be ‘Hiking Heroes’. We walked all the way there and back, keeping the smiles on our faces! We learned about a local business that relies on tourism, we ate ice cream, we paddled, we dug and played in the sand and we attempted to fly a kite. We all had a wonderful day! ... See MoreSee Less

What a fantastic opportunity the Year 1 children had to show off their learning around our local history to the volunteers at Maritime Museum! The children all had such a fantastic time exploring the museum and its artefacts, seeing how high the water reached during the 1953 flood and exploring where the Grit used to be.The children were able to point out Sir Samuel Morton Peto to the volunteers and recognised the herring that was so popular to catch locally. We would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers at the Maritime Museum who were able to support us with this. What an exciting and engaging opportunity! ... See MoreSee Less
