On Monday, the children designed their own fence weaves and dyed fabric in preparation for making these weaves, in the coming weeks. We hope that they have been inspired to become artists or designers when they grow up! Dyeing fabrics was exciting and engaging for all pupils. The children also commented on how they enjoyed this sensory experience. Well done Year 3! ... See MoreSee Less

This week in art the children worked on their weaving, knotting and plaiting skills and created these beautiful, creative pieces of art. The children used their fine motor skills, in this sensory activity. They were excited and engaged by this activity and it gave the children the opportunity to support each other where needed. ... Last week in Year 3, we continued learning about weaving. The children got to experiment with weaving techniques. We made this task exciting, engaging, and relevant by linking it to Roman fabric and how people used to create fabric by hand; we only selected colours available to the Romans. They all enjoyed this sensory activity and enjoyed helping and supporting each other to perfect their techniques. As a result of this, the children all received a learning point for understanding others. ... See MoreSee Less

In year 3 we have been using a computer program called Scratch2 (available to access free online) throughout our computing unit on 'Programming Skills'. The children have been so excited and engaged in this unit and have made great progress creating algorithms to make their characters move, change appearance, and finally make sound. Below are some brief examples from their final session. This was another opportunity for the children to work together to create something. ... See MoreSee Less

As part of our Computing curriculum, the children within Year 5 have been programming using microcontrollers. This progressed their learning from last year and provided exciting and engaging experiences for them. They have been challenged to program nightlights, fairy lights and traffic lights as part of this unit. The children had to not only draw on their prior learning within Computing, but also Science. Manta Ray class are now starting this learning journey as part of Computing unit in Summer 2. ... See MoreSee Less

The Year 1 children were very excited this week to complete one of our unforgettable 11B411 promises. Our promise was ‘Seeds to Supper’ in which we had to grow something to eat. We planted some mystery seeds and predicted what we thought they might grow into. We cared for our seeds while they grew until they were ready to eat! We discovered that the seeds had grown into cress. We learned how to safely prepare our surfaces and food before making some cheese and cress sandwiches to try. All of the children implemented our school learning behaviour ‘Try New Things’ by eating their cress! What an exciting and engaging opportunity! ... See MoreSee Less
